Adding a New Worksheet

Click the plus button beside the tabs, or press Shift + F11, to add another page to the workbook.

Another Page in the Same File

Related information belongs in one file on separate sheets, not in separate files. Adding a sheet takes one click.

  1. Click the plus — New sheet at the end
  2. Or Shift + F11 — New sheet before the current one
  3. Rename it — Double click the tab

How to do it

The + button beside the sheet tabs or Shift + F11

The plus button adds the sheet at the end. Shift + F11 adds it before the current sheet.

Ctrl + drag a tab duplicates a sheet, layout and formulas included.

Do this

  • Rename each sheet as you create it
  • Use Ctrl + drag to duplicate a sheet layout
  • Keep related work in one workbook

Avoid

  • Leaving sheets named Sheet2 and Sheet3
  • Creating a new file when a new sheet would do
  • Adding sheets in a random order

  • Insert a blank sheet and rebuild it
  • Hold Ctrl and drag the January tab to duplicate it
  • Copy and paste all the cells
