Changing the Office Theme
Beyond dark mode, you can change the Office background pattern and set the theme to follow Windows.
Personalising the Window
The Office Background adds a subtle pattern to the top corner. Combined with the theme, it makes your Excel feel like yours without touching any file.

How to do it
File ▸ Options ▸ General ▸ Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office
Choosing Use system setting makes Excel follow whether Windows itself is in light or dark mode.

- Confusing the Office theme with a workbook theme
- Expecting ribbon customisations to sync too
- Picking a busy background that distracts in screen shares
