Hiding and Unhiding a Worksheet
Right-click a tab and choose Hide to tuck a sheet away without deleting it.
Out of Sight, Still There
Working sheets, lookup tables and calculation pages do not need to be seen. Hiding keeps them working while tidying the tab bar.
- Right-click the tab — Choose Hide
- The tab disappears — Formulas still work
- Right-click ▸ Unhide — To bring it back
How to do it
Right-click the sheet tab ▸ Hide Right-click any tab ▸ Unhide ▸ pick the sheet
A hidden sheet still calculates and still feeds every formula that points at it.

Right-click ▸ Hide Right-click ▸ Unhide ▸ choose the sheet

Result: Hide, not delete
If there is any chance you will want it back, hide it rather than delete it.
Do this
- Hide working and lookup sheets
- Use hiding instead of deleting when unsure
- Protect the workbook structure to stop unhiding
Avoid
- Treating hiding as security
- Hiding a sheet then forgetting it exists
- Deleting when hiding would have done
📌 Hiding is tidiness, not protection. Anyone can unhide a sheet in two clicks.
