Grouping Worksheets
Select several tabs together and every edit you make applies to all of them at once.
Edit Twelve Sheets at Once
Twelve monthly sheets with the same layout? Group them, format once, and every sheet changes together. It is the biggest time saver in the tab bar.
- Click the first tab — Then Ctrl or Shift click others
- The title says Group — You are now in group mode
- Edit once — Every grouped sheet changes
How to do it
Click a tab ▸ Ctrl + click more tabs ▸ edit ▸ right-click ▸ Ungroup Sheets
The title bar shows [Group] while grouping is on. If you miss it, you will edit sheets you did not mean to.

Check the title bar for [Group] before typing anything. Always.
Do this
- Group sheets to format them all at once
- Watch the title bar for the [Group] warning
- Ungroup the moment you finish
Avoid
- Forgetting to ungroup and overwriting sheets
- Not noticing the [Group] warning
- Grouping sheets with different layouts
📌 Grouping is the most dangerous feature on this bar. Forget to ungroup and you overwrite twelve sheets.
Practice
- Group three sheets and format a header row.
- Check the title bar for [Group].
- Ungroup them again.
