Excel Help with F1
F1 opens the help pane. It searches Microsoft's official documentation from inside Excel.
The Official Answer
The internet has plenty of Excel advice, some of it wrong. F1 goes straight to Microsoft's own documentation, which is the authority on how a function actually behaves.
- Press F1 — The help pane opens
- Type your question — Or a function name
- Read the article — Official documentation
How to do it
Press F1 or Help tab ▸ Help
Select a function name in a formula and press F1, and Excel opens that function's page directly.
